The International Organization of Physical Therapists in Mental Health (IOPTMH) is pleased to announce the completion of its 2024–2025 election process and the appointment of the new Executive Committee for the upcoming term. This moment marks an important milestone for our organization as we welcome new leadership and close a chapter of dedicated service.

New Executive Committee (2025–2029)

We proudly introduce the newly elected Executive Committee, who will guide the IOPTMH for the next four years:

  • President: Ellen Lake (Australia)

  • Vice President: Elisa Gálvez Olvera (Mexico)

  • Secretary: Ellen Anderson (USA)

  • Treasurer: Jonna Jensen (Denmark)

  • Elected Member: Davy Vancampfort (Belgium)

This team brings together exceptional expertise, commitment, and passion for advancing mental health within the global physiotherapy community. We warmly congratulate them and look forward to the leadership and vision they will contribute in the coming years.

Acknowledging the Returning Officer and World Physiotherapy

We extend our sincere gratitude to Lene Nyboe for her outstanding work and dedication throughout the election process in her role as Returning Officer. We also wish to thank World Physiotherapy for their unwavering and invaluable support, which continues to strengthen the work and visibility of our specialty group.

A Transition in Leadership

As part of this leadership transition, two members of the previous Executive Committee — Daniel Catalan-Matamoros (President) and Mark Højbo (Treasurer) — are stepping down from their roles. Their years of service, commitment, and vision have been instrumental in moving the organization forward.

Their farewell letters, filled with appreciation and reflection, are included below as a tribute to their contributions and as a heartfelt message to the IOPTMH community.

Together, we look forward to continuing the advancement of physiotherapy in mental health and strengthening our global impact.
